Course Description:

Comprehensive review of nutrient flow in animal agricultural systems, environmental regulations, and environmental stewardship practices.

Having completed SOILS / AGECO / ANSCI 418, the student will be able to:

  1. Describe the various manure storage and handling systems for each of the major livestock species.
  2. List and discuss the major environmental regulations affecting livestock producers.
  3. Describe dietary strategies to reduce nutrient excretion in each of the major livestock species.
  4. Meet state requirements to serve as a certified nutrient management plan writer.
