Each week you will be responsible for five texture samples. These samples will be available in one of the greenhouses in the basement of the ASI building. This page will contain the lab analysis data so that you can check your hand texturing against the lab data. It is suggested that you go texture the samples, check the answers and return to redo textures that gave you problems. One of the goals of texturing is guessing the % clay within +/- 3%. When you email me your results, please provide original estimations as well as any redone estimations of texture, so that I can see which types of textures are providing you with the biggest problems. We will then spend more time working on those textures in the future. In addition, although I ask that you turns these textures in as assignments, you will not be graded wrong or right, just for completing the textures. Do not just make up results from the lab data, as you will only be hurting yourself when we go out into the field and have to do field textures.
