Environmental Resource Management

The Department of Crop and Soil Sciences participates in this interdepartmental major within the College of Agricultural Sciences. The major is set up in a three-tiered fashion. The first tier involves foundation course work in the various fields witin the interdisciplinary environmental management area. These fields include the physical and biological sciences, the social and economic sciences, and the communication skills necessary to relay this information in written and oral form. The second tier involves coursework specifically designed to cut across these fields and develop an interdisciplinary understanding of their interrelationships. The ability to recognize and analyze complex environmental problems is developed in this second tier of courses. The third tier involves the student's technical course work. In consultation with his or her advisor, the student studies one aspect of the environment in sufficient depth to allow the student to work on the development of technical solutions to problems in this area. For the B.S. degree in Environmental Resources Management, a minimum of 125 credits is required.
