Computing at Penn State
All Penn State students, faculty and staff are provided with 'access' accounts that allow access to the full range of Internet services, as well as other University-provided computing
services. Here are some important links for students.
General Links
- Penn State Information Technology Services --
provider of academic computing services at University Park campus.
- Current ITS system status is a good way to find out which services are running and which are not.
- Of course you need an access account to use a lab computer at UP campus, for dial-in access, and for email and netnews access. Here is a link to documentation about
PSU Access Accounts.
Laboratory Information
Assistance
As a student of Agronomy 410W your best bet for assistance is to contact one of the class consultants or your section instructor.
- In our networked computing environment, most consulting, documentation and training information is available online.
- If you need assistance with lab resources you may need to talk with the ITS
Consulting Staff
- The ITS also offers a number of seminars on various computing topics.
- If you still aren't sure who to ask, or think maybe your question has been asked many times before, visit the ITS Help Desk.
Miscellaneous
- University Libraries information is
also available online, including the LIAS online catalog and many searchable databases.
- Find someone through the University's Ph server. Note that not all fields can be altered by you. Students wishing to have non-changable information altered will have to contact the Registraur at Shields Bldg. Faculty/staff will have to contact their Human Resources representative.
- Computer hardware and software may be purchased at significant discount from
The Computer Store located on the ground floor of Willard Building.
